Feb 2023 -> Climate Resilience for Business Sustainability Training
The Climate Resilience for Business Sustainability training program was launched virtually on the 8th of February, 2023.
Finalists chosen for the programme were warmly welcomed by the Forum's Acting Secretary General, Dr. Filimon Manoni, in his opening remarks and he encouraged participants to 'make the most of this opportunity.'
"It is never too late to stop learning, and with all that is happening in the world today, learning for adaption to key challenges is critical. For you, our Private Sector colleagues, you will continue to be an important part of our resilient development efforts going forward." Said Dr. Manoni.
Close to 200 participants, from all over the Pacific, are currently undertaking the program which highlights the importance of private sector engagement in climate change.
“I am very excited to be chosen to undertake this training even though there is a high volume of applicants to this training. It will help me to acquire basic understanding of climate change, how it affects businesses and what can be done to address it.” Said Elvis Bwa’a, a participant from the Solomon Islands.
“This training will help me to understand climate change and its impact on our community. It will give me better ideas on ways to tackle the consequences of global warming and how we adapt to the changes.” Said Wendy Morona from Papua New Guinea.
Maryanne Bukah, another participant - also from PNG, believes the training will be a great help to her burgeoning SME, Mae’s Travel Agency.
“I know for sure that this course will assist Mae’s Travel Agency and the community, on how to adapt to Climate Change.”
The capacity building programme will be delivered by the USP Pacific TAFE and is supported by the European Union's Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change and Resilience building (PACRES) funding.
